Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. discussed the new approach to combatting the juvenile crime and gang activity

Juvenile crime and particularly involvement of gangs has generated a lot of attention in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County over the past few months. So much so that the city of Pine Bluff, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Sixth Division of Circuit Court, juvenile court have banded together and sought help from other parts of the country.

Last week, Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show to talk about that new approach. Woods was one of the people who toured several cities in the northeastern part of the country where that new approach is working.

Woods went on to say that organizers at least one individual that he thinks young people, particularly those involved in gangs, will listen to.

He continued by saying that it is important for the group to do more than just have meetings to have meetings.
