A ribbon cutting was held for ‘The Reef’ student-athlete housing center for SeArk College on Friday morning.

SeArk College President Dr. Steven Bloomberg said that the project came about quickly for the college.

Bloomberg said that ‘The Reef’ will be at capacity once the fall semester begins.

He said that they have received a great response from students and parents regarding ‘The Reef’.

Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson was honored with a plaque inside of ‘The Reef’ to honor his work to help make the vision of student housing come to fruition for SeArk College. Robinson gave his thoughts on ‘The Reef’.

Robinson said that it was an easy decision for him to put his support behind the project.

With SeArk College expecting ‘The Reef’ to be at full capacity in the fall, Bloomberg said the college is looking at options to open additional housing. He said that they could potentially build from the ground up, but are also open to finding another facility like ‘The Reef’ in order to repurpose it for student housing.
