A report that shots were being fired in the area of 23rd Avenue and Ash Street Sunday night resulted in the arrest of a man who was driving a vehicle that was seen in the area by a witness.

Marketo Miller, 41, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that police saw traveling east on 23rd Avenue and matched the description of the vehicle described by the witness. Detective Keith Banks reported that the witness also said the driver of the vehicle was a black male with braids.’

After the vehicle pulled into a driveway in the 600 block of West 23rd Avenue police approached it and saw in plain sight an assault rifle and a .40-caliber Glock handgun.

Deputy Prosecutor Karres Manning said during a court hearing Tuesday that Miller had a previous conviction for theft by receiving in 1997 but nothing recent.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Miller after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Miller.
