The Pine Bluff Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the murder of 43-year-old Willie Purifoy that happened early Thursday morning at 2702 S. Ash.

41-year-old Stephen Peterson of White Hall was arrested Thursday and booked into the W.C. “Dub” Brassel Detention Center for Capital Murder in relation to the case.

The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation after responding to a shots fired call in the area of 27th Avenue and Ash Street at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to a press release a second 911 call was received stating a person who had been shot at 2702 S. Ash.

Officers responded to the residence and located 43-year-old Willie Purifoy inside the residence.

Purifoy had suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.

Persons of interest in this homicide are being interviewed at the time of this release. No one has been arrested for the homicide at this point.

This homicide is in the early stages of the investigation and there is no suspect information to be released at this time.
