A Pine Bluff woman who was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery is facing a felony allegation after she was arrested in the early morning hours Friday following a reported domestic incident at a residence on Oak Ridge.

Carol Guess, 52, pleaded no contest to third-degree domestic battery in June 2020. Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said during a court hearing Monday.

Police reported that when they arrived at the scene, they found a male who had a small laceration to his nose and a puncture wound to his mid-chest. He told officers he and Guess had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical.

He said he grabbed her by the hair and pushed he to the floor and she got up, grabbed a knife, and stabbed him. He said he refused medical attention.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $20,000 bond for Guess after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge her with second offense third-degree domestic battery. Guess said she would hire her own attorney and was told to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
