On December 24, 2023, at approximately 2:09 am, Officers were dispatched to 1313 South Blake Street, in reference to a shooting. Once on scene, Officers located spent shell casings and blood trails but no victim.
Around 2:23 am, an off-duty officer working at Jefferson Regional Medical Center advised Officers that a black male, later identified as 41-year-old, William Earl Burnett, arrived with a single gunshot wound. Burnett later died from his injuries.
Detectives are currently following up on leads as this is an open investigation. There is no other information available at this time.
