Former Pine Bluff City Council members  Glen Brown Sr., and Bill Brumett are both trying to return to the council in the November General Election. The two each previously represented Ward 3 before losing, Brown Sr., to Donald Hatchett in 2016 and Brumett to Ivan Whitfield in 2018 and are now running against each other.

With the focus on the three homicides in Pine Bluff on Thursday, they each appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Friday where they offered their ideas on how to combat the problem of crime.

Brown was asked his thoughts.

He said that more money might be needed for public safety. When it was suggested that the city forget spending money for street improvements or dealing with ditches, he spoke against the idea.

Brumett was asked what he would do if he were elected to the seat and took office in January.

He, as some others have, also talked about the need for cameras to focus on hot spots.
