Pine Bluff City Council Approves Resolution to Install Sewer Lines Along N. University Avenue, Ordinances on 5/8 Of 1 Percent and 3/8 Of 1 Percent Sales and Use Tax Placed on Calendar

The Pine Bluff City Council met on Monday for its monthly meeting. Ordinances for the 5/8 of One Percent (0.625%) Sales and Use Tax and also the 3/8 of One Percent (0.375%) were placed on the calendar, as well as a special election on the question of levying a city wide 5/8 of One Percent and also levying a city wide 3/8 of One Percent sales and use tax.

Councilman Lloyd Holcomb Jr. spoke with Deltaplex News about his thoughts on the Go Forward sales taxes going back on the ballot, and also the importance of Go Forward being more transparent in their endeavors.

 

A request for a budget adjustment was discussed during the meeting to transfer $2,035,000.00 from the 2017 Sales Tax Fund to Urban Renewal for project funding. Comments were made by 2 aldermen specifically about the amount of funding and where it will be transferred to. Ultimately, the transfer of funds was voted 6-2.

Councilman Bruce Lockett provided remarks on a decision that was made to transfer funds from the GFPB 2017 tax to Urban Renewal for Project funding, and his perspective on projects for Urban Renewal and the Delta Rhythm & Bayous Cultural District.
