At a special meeting of the Pine Bluff School Board Monday, Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree accepted a three-year contract to continue to lead the district.

On Tuesday, Barbaree talked with Rick Walker and shared her feelings about taking the job permanently.

Walker told Barbaree that he felt like a cloud had been lifted in Pine Bluff now that the state is no longer in control of the district and said he felt like the community was reacting well to it.

He also mentioned that the consolidation with the former Dollarway School District had gone smoothly and Barbaree responded this way.

At that same meeting, the board announced  that the district will be going to a year-round schedule, more on that tomorrow.
