One person was killed Saturday night in Kingsland in an accident that involved a vehicle and a Union Pacific train.

The Arkansas State Police reports that 63-year-old  Nahdyne R. Estes of New Edinburg was traveling north on Maple street in Kingsland in a 2005 Chrysler van when she failed to stop at a railroad crossing at 7:45 p.m.

The report states that Estes then drove in front of a westbound train after entering the crossing where her vehicle was struck on the right rear by the train.

Estes was pronounce deceased at the scene by the Cleveland County Coroner following the accident.

The report also states one additional person was injured in the accident.

This is the 617th fatal accident on Arkansas roads in 2021 according to the Arkansas State Police.
