Nearly half the members of the Jefferson County Quorum Court did not show up for scheduled committee meetings Tuesday as the stand-off between County Judge Gerald Robinson and members of the county’s legislative body continued into its ninth month.

Justices of the Peace Reginald Adams, Alfred Carroll, Lloyd Franklin Jr., Melanie Johnson Dumas, Reginald Johnson and Margarette Williams were absent, forcing Robinson to adjourn the meeting because there were not enough members present to have a quorum.

Among the items which had been on the agenda were Christmas bonuses for county employees, as well as funds to pay for fuel and other items for the road department.

After the meeting, Floyd Donald talked to Justice of the Peace Dr. Conley Byrd Jr.

Last week, the road department sent out a memo to county officials telling them they could no longer get gas at the road department.

Donald talked to Road Department Director Rickey Bullard about that.

Another meeting will be scheduled for next week to try and break the impasse)
