Wrapping up our interviews with the candidates for Mayor of Pine Bluff, Mayor Shirley Washington talked about the need to increase the budget for the police department when she appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.

Voters in Pine Bluff twice rejected adding a three-eights cent sales tax for public safety while voting down extending the five-eights cent Go Forward Pine Bluff for an additional seven years. Morning Show host Greg Horne said he felt like if the three-eights cent tax had been on the ballot separately, it would have passed. “There are a lot of people who were against the Go Forward tax who are not necessarily against a tax to help the city,” he said.
