Mayor Shirley Washington delivered her annual State of the City address Thursday night from council chambers at the Kevin Collins Training Center, the former Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library.

The mayor talked about the renovations to the building which was named for the late Detective Kevin Collins, who was killed in the line of duty two years ago.

She also welcomed the new Chic-Fil-a which opened late last year and it was important for the city to get that business.

Public Safety and efforts to reduce violent crime were also a big part of her focus, she said.

Washington also talked about the 2023 Youth Summer Employment program which helped 120 students find work and said plans are underway to expand that program this year.

Another area she touched on was the upgrading of city parks and additional recreational activities.

Improvements to University Drive have also started, the Mayor said.
