A Pine Bluff man was arrested Thursday following a police investigation into the alleged theft of lawn equipment.

During a court hearing Friday, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said James Tillman Jr., 28, was identified as the suspect after police traced a license plate number that was on a vehicle that left the scene of the incident.

King said police were sent to a house In the 699 block of West 36th Ave., where the victim reported that someone was taking lawn equipment from her greenhouse. King then said

When Tillman was questioned, he told police he had not driven the truck on that day and had driven a different vehicle.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $15,000 bond for Tillman after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering and theft of property. Tillman said he would hire his own lawyer.
