Homeowners who are delinquent in paying their property taxes and are in danger of losing that property can benefit by reaching out to a new member of the United Way.
Markeisha Davis calls herself a Tax Deed Mentor and joined United Way Executive Director Jason Duren on United Way Day, Wednesday on Oldies 1013.
Davis explained what she does.
She went on to say this.
She said that in some cases the amount paid at auction of the property exceeds the total tax owed and that is money that the original property owner hasn’t claimed.
Morning Show host Greg Horne said “so you’ve got to wait a year but if you wait an additional two years after that the state says it’s our money now.
Davis said she will be hosting a seminar this Saturday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Service Center which is called “Who’s Paying Big Mama’s Taxes.”
She then explained the name for the seminar.
