The United Way of Southeast Arkansas is preparing to launch a new fun initiative, duck races, to benefit people who cannot afford the co-pay on prescriptions.

United Way Executive Director Jason Duren and Lelan Stice, the owner of Doctor’s Orders Pharmacy and Town and Country Hardware explained the plan when they appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show Wednesday.

Morning Show host Greg Horne said people are going to buy ducks, they are going to have races, and the money raised will help those seniors, right?

Stice responded by saying this.

Duren said the races will be Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m., and Horne expanded on that.

Horne asked Duren to explain his reference to Jeeps, then Stice spoke up.

Stice said this will be the inaugural duck race and organizers hope to make it an annual event. There will be a $250 price for the first-place winner and Duren said they are in the process of lining up other prizes, including dinners at fancy restaurants.
