Bonds of $150,000 each were set Friday for two Pine Bluff men on drug and weapons related charges.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bonds for Anthony Thorns, 20, and Cameron Mays, 21, after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge them with possession of a machine gun, possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and fleeing.

Reading from an affidavit by Vice and Narcotics Detective Richard McCorvy, Deputy Prosecutor Britaney Akel said on March 6, McCorvy was conducting surveillance on a house on 26th Avenue where there had been reports of shootings and gun related activity.

During the surveillance, McCorvy reported seeing three black males, two of them later identified as Mays and Thorn.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and two of the three occupants fled while the driver remained in the vehicle and was detained. He told police he was aware of marijuana being in the vehicle.

The driver was released pending further investigation, Akel said.

Police later located a Glock Model 17 that had 30 rounds in it and also had a switch.

Akel said a criminal history check showed no prior felonies for Thorn or Mays and they were told to come back to court April 5. Each said they would hire their own attorney.
