The Sheridan Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault involving students on a school bus, according to a police report obtained by Deltaplex News.
Officer Saundra McCool wrote in the report that on Oct. 31, Assistant Principal Ingram contacted police after reviewing bus surveillance video showing concerning behavior by two high school boys toward a female student.
According to the report, one of the boys allegedly touched the girl inappropriately numerous times during the ride and, at one point, overpowered her and held her down in the seat. The same student also reportedly smeared a glue stick on her face, while making inappropriate sexual remarks towards her. A second boy sitting close to the female student was seen touching her inappropriately during the incident, the report states.
The girl appeared visibly upset, and the bus driver eventually stopped then walked back to see what the commotion was about. The two male students claimed the female students dog had died and that’s why she was upset. The bus driver then moved her to the front of the vehicle after noticing the disturbance, according to police.
Both boys were cited for harassment and assault, and the case has been referred to juvenile authorities for further review.
