During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said a police officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of Flipper Street in response to a reported battery.

The victim was interviewed at the hospital and he said he had gotten into an altercation with a white male in front of Strawberry Hill Liquor on North University and the white male had cut him with two butcher knives before walking away.

Spradlin said police patrolled the area and located Brickey, who was taken into custody without incident. He told police he was not going to make a statement.

Brickey was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Oct. 29.
