A $75,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of breaking into a house and beating a pregnant woman.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jimmy Ruff, 28, with aggravated residential burglary and third-degree domestic battery on a pregnant woman.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said on Monday, police were sent to a residence on Lilac Street in response to a reported battery.

Akel said Ruff has prior convictions of a violent nature including committing a terroristic act and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court July 2.
