A $5,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of stealing merchandise from a store on Dollarway and a police chase resulted in an officer being injured.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Willie Oglesby, 61, with theft of property, second-degree battery and fleeing on foot, a Class B felony because of the officer’s injury.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel explained the allegations based on an affidavit from police Detective Jesse Horton.

Akel said Oglesby has a previous felony conviction from 2017.

He was told to come back to court Jan. 23.
