Firefighters with Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services were recognized Monday during a promotion ceremony held at Station 3, where 12 department members were honored for advancing into new leadership roles.

The ceremony, held May 18, brought together firefighters, family members, friends and city leaders to celebrate the promotions and years of service behind them.

Fire Chief Randy Compton presented the promotions while Division 1 Circuit Judge Alex Guynn administered the oath of office to the firefighters stepping into their new positions.

“The department is proud of your accomplishments, and we look forward to your continued service and leadership to our community,” Compton said during the ceremony.

Vivian Flowers also attended the event and praised the department’s work and professionalism.

Flowers described Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services as “one of the hardest working, most awarded fire and emergency services in the state of Arkansas.”

She also recognized the firefighters’ role in responding to emergencies and assisting residents during difficult situations.

“These men here today, who have started out as firefighters, have evolved with excellence, becoming professionals whose job it is not only to keep us safe but to look in the faces of people on the worst day of their lives … they not only save their lives but also save their property and help keep this city safe.” Flowers said.

The ceremony marked a rare opportunity for firefighters, whose work often happens quietly behind emergency scenes, to be publicly recognized for their dedication and advancement within the department.
