Pine Bluff Commissioner Calls for Moratorium on Nonprofits to Boost Local Job Growth

Danny Walker is a commissioner on the Pine Bluff Planning Commission. Walker says it’s time to place a moratorium on the number of non-profits in the city.

According to Walker, some non-profits encourage dependency Rather than empowerment—, making individuals reliant on aid instead of promoting self-sufficiency. In addition, he says the city needs to make an aggressive move to attract businesses that will create jobs.

Walker say that most non-profits may have programs that are poorly designed and sometimes deliver negative results, wasting resources and time. He says, so far, several council members are in general agreement with his proposal.
