Attorneys for a former Illinois Sheriff’s Deputy convicted of murder in October have asked for a new trial in the case.

Following a jury trial, Sean Grayson, 31, was convicted of second-degree murder after being convicted of killing Sonya Massey, 36, in July 2024 after she had called deputies to report an intruder.

Massey’s father, James Wilburn, is from Pine Bluff and was asked about the request for a new trial by the man convicted of killing his daughter.
