A $5k bond set for a woman charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm

A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Jefferson County woman accused of being involved in a shooting incident Friday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Janelle Freeman, 19, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said at 11:35, police were sent to a reported shooting and found a black male who had been shot in the chest. The victim was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital for treatment.

Spradlin said Freeman is on probation from Arkansas for a 2024 conviction for endangering the welfare of a minor. She was told to come back to court June 23.
