Jefferson County Quorum Court is once again holding up legislation

As far as certain members of the Jefferson County Court are concerned, February 2024 looks and feels just like February 2023.

During the Court’s February Committee meeting, Justices Lloyd Franklin Jr., Margaret Williams, Reginald Johnson, Melanie Dumas, Reginald Adams, Brenda Bishop Gaddy and Cedric Jackson voted to table two appropriation ordinances that would pay outstanding bills owed by the county’s road department. Justice Alfred Carroll was absent.

Meanwhile Ricky Bullard, the county road department supervisor says the more things seem to change, the more they remain the same.

Finance committee chairman Ted Harden says the two-table measure would be discussed.
