Investigation underway after 1 month old receives a head injury in a Monticello domestic incident

The Monticello Police Department and Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division are investigating what Monticello Police Chief Carlos Garcia is calling a “deeply distressing domestic abuse incident” involving a one month old infant and the child’s mother.

According to a press release the Monticello Police Department responded to a call for a domestic disturbance on March 21, 2024. Upon arrival officers discovered an infant in critical condition. The infant sustained a head injury as a result of the incident.

Garcia says the Monticello Police Department and the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division are collaborating closely as a thorough investigation takes place. Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.

“The Agencies are committed to bringing those responsible for this egregious act to justice and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals within the community,” said Garcia.

“The infant is receiving medical care and support, and efforts are being made to provide all of the necessary assistance to the affected family during this difficult time,” Garcia added.
