A four-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 530 left one person dead and closed traffic across all lanes in both directions.

A large truck traveling northbound around noon at high speeds in a work zone collided with a passenger car says Arkansas Department of Transportation spokesman, Danny Straessle. Two other cars traveling northbound were also struck, and three of the four vehicles caught on fire. One person from one of the passenger vehicles was confirmed dead at the scene.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelly identified the victim as Lisa P. Howard, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40 p.m. According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Danny R. Howard, 62, of New Edinburg, who was in the same vehicle as Lisa Howard, and Jane R. Cezar, 65, of North Little Rock, were injured. The report also states that a 2006 International tractor-trailer rig that was northbound first struck a 2014 GMC driven by Danny Howard, then struck a 2013 Nissan driven by Cezar before finally hitting a 2006 Toyota. All the vehicles were northbound at the time.

During the time of the crash, crews were transitioning to close the other lane and reopen the lane closed during the morning. Cars on southbound I-530 were not affected, but lanes were closed to help emergency vehicles access the site of the crash. The story is still developing and the incident is continues to be investigated.
