One person was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 63 at the River Bridge Tuesday night.

According to a preliminary report, the victim, an-unidentified female was a passenger in a vehicle that was southbound that crossed the centerline and struck a 2020 Buick that was northbound at the time.

After impact, the vehicle, which state police did not initially identify became engulfed in flames and the woman was trapped in the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of that vehicle, Laroderick Scott, 44, of Shreveport, La., and the drive of the Buick, Lasha Carter, 59, of Stuttgart were both injured and taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital.

The accident was reported at 10:54 p.m. and the death was the 159th so far this year on the state’s highways.
