Drew county man arrested for allegedly using drugs at local graduation

33-year-old Jason William Carson was arrested Friday,  during kindergarten graduation at a Drew County school after witnesses observed him in a school bathroom snorting suspected narcotics, according to a press release from the Monticello Police Department.

According to the report, a Drug Task Force Agent was present at the school and responded, detaining Carson. A search found Carson was in possession of methamphetamine, hydrocodone, klonopin, suboxone and drug paraphernalia. Carson was also found with stolen wallet.

A straw believed to have been used to snort narcotics was found in the bathroom stall and was recovered by law enforcement on scene.

Carson has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of hydrocodone (schedule 2), possession of klonopin (schedule 4), possession of drug paraphernalia and Endangering the Welfare of a minor. Carson will also be charged with theft of property for the stolen wallet.

Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers thanks the Drug Task Force for their quick response in recovering the narcotics and securing the scene.

Officers took Carson in to custody and transported him to the Ashley County Jail where jail bed space was available.
