Wednesday is United Way Day on Oldies 1013 and this week, Devonte Calhoun, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County was the guest.

Calhoun, who formerly worked for the Pine Bluff School District, was “pretty excited” about the voters in the district on Tuesday approving a millage increase that will, among other things, pay for the construction of a new high school at the same location as the current high school.

Calhoun went on to talk about the condition of the current high school buildings.

Morning show host Greg Horne asked Calhoun if the new buildings will help recruiting teachers for the district and Calhoun responded this way.
