The Delta Rivers Nature Center announces its schedule of events for the month of September.  The center is located at 1400 Black Dog Road in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park.  You are invited to participate in these upcoming events:

September 1st from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm – Nature Craft – Deer Antler Key Chains; Deer season starts soon! Celebrate by joining us to make your own deer antler keychain or bracelet. There is no fee thanks to your support of the 1/8 Cent Conservation Sales Tax.

September 2nd at 2:00pm – Animal Feeding Frenzy; See eagle, alligator and snake feedings!  Observe the fascinating ways animals eat their prey, and learn why they are important to ecosystems.  **Snakes are fed live mice**

September 8th from 10:00 to 11:30am – Plant Swap;  If you like to grow house plants or plant an entire garden, come and check out our plant swaps. You can bring plants to trade or just come by to meet people and trade ideas and knowledge. You may even win a door prize!!!

September 15th from 9:30am to 1:00pm – Marksmanship Challenge; We are shaking things up a bit this year! The five events of the challenge will include Hatchet Throwing, Bait-casting, BB guns, 3-D archery, and National Archery in the Schools Program style archery. Top scorers will receive a prize in each of the 4 classes: Grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, & 10-12. Grades 1-3 will only compete in NASP-style archery, BB guns, and Bait-casting. Top scorers and prizes will be announced at 12:30.

September 22nd from 9:00am to 7:00pm – Hunter Education; This class is for Hunter Education certification.  Please note that the location of this class is NOT the Delta Rivers Nature Center. The location is the John Fallis Waterfront Meeting Facility on Beachfront Drive in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park.   Food and drink are allowed in the classroom.  Register by visiting www.register-ed.com.  For more information, please call 870-534-0011.
