The Sheridan City Council will consider a proposal to put solar panels on the roof of the Sheridan Parks and Recreation Center.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the council held a special meeting to hear a presentation by a representative of SolarConnect to upgrade the roof of the building and add solar panels.

The proposal said the solar panels would significantly reduce the amount that is being paid for electrical service by about $450,000 over the next 25-years.

The newspaper reported that council members displayed interest in looking more at the proposal. The council will next meet at 6 p.m. on April 2.
