Pitts comes from a family of talented blues musicians and has inherited their distinctive sound. At the age of five, he picked up his brother’s acoustic guitar and began playing. When he turned thirteen, his parents bought him his first electric guitar. Pitts played his first gig alongside his uncle, Steve Nelson, at This Is It, a popular blues club on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. He later became a regular performer at the well-known Memphis blues venue, Wild Bill’s, where both his uncle and great-uncle, Clarence Nelson, had played before him.

Over the years, Pitts has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Bobby Rush, Latimore, and Blind Mississippi Morris. He joined Mississippi Bigfoot in 2016, serving as both a guitarist and vocalist.

Now performing as Chris Pitts in the Memphis Prime as lead vocalist and guitarist, he is joined by talented friends Tay, Russ, and Courtney. Chris Pitts and Memphis Prime have won the hearts of many with the dynamic showcase that features favorites from legends such as Albert King, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Howlin’ Wolf, Charlie Pride, and Jimi Hendrix. Pitts brings a fresh and funky vibe to Old Soul music with depth and passion that is memorable and unmatched.
