A $15,000 cash only bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man currently on probation on drug and weapons charges.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Darius Henderson, 25, with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Girard said Sheriff’s Sgt. Courtney Kelly was patrolling in the area of Dollarway and Hutchinson Wednesday afternoon when he saw a vehicle driven by Henderson that was southbound and noticed that Henderson was not wearing a seat belt.

Kelly conducted a traffic stop and when he approached the vehicle, reported an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Henderson reportedly agreed to a search of the vehicle and during the search Kelly located a jar containing a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana and weighed 51 grams in the center console. A semi-automatic handgun with 16 rounds in the clip and one round in the chamber was found in a gold bag in the back seat.

Girard said records showed that Henderson was placed on probation in September 2018 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and theft by receiving.

Judge Kearney also told Henderson that there were two warrants charging him with failure to appear for a court hearing to revoke his probation and he would be held without bond pending an appearance before Circuit Judge Jodi Raines Dennis.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Henderson.
