A $5,000 cash only bond was set Tuesday for a Jefferson County man who was arrested on drug related charges Sunday after a White Hall Police officer recognized the man and knew he had a suspended driver’s license.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Harold James, 66, with possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson asked for the cash only bond because James has two pending felony cases in Jefferson County, one of them drug related.

Carson described the events that led to the arrest.

Carson said the pending cases including an arrest on drug related charge in 2019 and breaking or entering and theft of property last year.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent James.
