A $5,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Jacksonville woman accused of trying to cash a fraudulent check Monday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Alexandria Nizama-Riera, 26, with forgery.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Tamina Smith, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson said police were sent to Simmons Bank on West 28th Avenue at 11:25 a.m. in reference to a reported forgery and spoke to the assistant manager Edna Stuckey.

The Public Defenders’ Office was appointed to represent Nizama-Riera and she was told to come back to court Aug. 18.
