Arkansas State Senator Trent Garner, whose district 27 includes portions of six counties, including Jefferson said Thursday that reported incidents of child abuse and child sexual abuse have actually declined during the pandemic but said that was because mandatory reporters of the abuse aren’t seeing the kids.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show, Garner, who is seeking reelection said:

A resident of El Dorado in Union County, Garner also talked about what the legislature has done and could do to help the economy.

Prior to getting his law degree, Garner was an Army Green Beret and was asked about his military service.

Garner sponsored legislation in 2019 that set aside $5 million in federal money to help veterans struggling with emotional issues and talked about so many veterans who commit suicide each year nationally and in Arkansas.
