The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of several American Bully dogs and is asking pet owners to remain vigilant.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who owns an American Bully or a similar breed to closely monitor their pets and take extra precautions to keep them secure. Anyone with information related to the missing dogs is asked to contact the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department at 870-325-6222. Investigators say every tip could assist in the ongoing investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department also announced it recently passed an audit conducted by the Arkansas Department of Human Services’ Division of Youth Services. The review evaluated the Cleveland County Jail’s compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. Department officials said the successful audit reflects the agency’s continued focus on accountability and adherence to state standards.
During the reporting period of July 11-17, deputies responded to a wide variety of calls for service, including four domestic disturbances, three reckless driver complaints, six suspicious person calls, 18 ambulance assists, 10 alarm calls, two accident investigations, two shoplifting incidents, two scam reports, two fire calls, one reported theft, one death investigation, one dog bite, one runaway, and several other service calls.
Deputies also made two misdemeanor arrests. Jerry Casey of Pine Bluff was arrested on a charge of terroristic threatening, a Class A misdemeanor, while Charity Cogburn of Hot Springs was arrested for public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor.
In addition, deputies arrested Richard Smart of Kingsland on a felony warrant from Jefferson County and Jonathan Thompson of Bearden on a felony warrant issued in Cleveland County.
The Sheriff’s Department encourages residents to report suspicious activity and continue working with law enforcement to help keep Cleveland County safe.
