College students will also begin returning to campus later in the month. Classes at Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 17, while the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will start its fall semester on Monday, Aug. 24.

With the new school year approaching, motorists are reminded to watch for school buses, obey school zone speed limits and allow extra travel time during the morning and afternoon commute as students return to classrooms.

Parents are encouraged to check with their child’s school for information regarding open houses, supply lists, bus routes and other back-to-school activities before the first day of classes.

Deltaplex News wishes all students, teachers, administrators and school staff a safe and successful 2026-27 school year.
