A $25,000 secured bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of firing multiple shots toward two people following a verbal altercation.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 45-year-old Antonio Reed with Aggravated Assault on a Family Member.
Reading from an affidavit, Prosecuting Attorney Jim Williams said June 9th, Officer Jones responded to 50309 Pinnacle Lane in response to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officer jones made contact with a victim who states he was in a verbal altercation with Reed. According to the affidavit, Reed got into his vehicle and began driving away before reversing toward the victim and his aunt, who had started walking back to their residence, and allegedly fired in their direction. The pair ran for cover behind their vehicle, which sustained damage from the gunfire.
Officer Jones also interviewed a witness who reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a white Audi with Texas license plates leaving the area.
Authorities later attempted to locate Reed.
According to the affidavit, Reed contacted officers at one point to ask whether he would be arrested if he attended a relative’s funeral.
Despite multiple attempts to find him, he remained at large until June 21, when he voluntarily surrendered.
Reed was ordered to have no contact with the victim and is scheduled to return to court August 12th.
