Pine Bluff Man Held on No Bond after Alleged Capital Murder

No Bond was set for a Pine Bluff man accused of shooting another man in the neck during an argument at a residence.

Pine Bluff District Judge Kim Bridgeforth set No Bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 46-year-old Antonio Cole with Capital Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

Reading from an affidavit by Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Jesse Horton, Prosecuting Attorney Chase Mangiapane states that on June 16th, at approximately 2:17 a.m., officers responded to 1316 W. 23rd Ave. to assist EASi involving an unresponsive black male.

Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by a man identified as Witness 2, who directed them behind the residence.

There, officers found the victim lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

The victim was unresponsive and breathing slowly before being transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators spoke with Witness 1, the victim’s girlfriend. She told officers the victim had been outside speaking with another individual and that she looked through the window several times, observing the two arguing.

A short time later, she heard a single gunshot and looked outside to see the victim lying on the ground.

According to the affidavit, Witness 1 initially remained inside because she feared for her safety but later went outside and attempted lifesaving measures.

Witness 2 had reportedly gone inside the residence about 10 minutes before the shooting occurred.

On June 16th at 2:30 am, Officer Jesse Horton interviewed witness 1, who gave her account of what happened.

On the same day at 3:23 am, Officer Horton interviewed witness 2, who gave his account of what happened.

At 6 am, Detective Horton obtained a search warrant for 1504 W 23rd ave, where Cole was found and taken into custody.

His outfit matched the description given by both witnesses.

Cole denied the allegations in an interview with police. He has a prior felony going back to February 2002 according to a background check.
Cole is ordered to return to court on August 7th.
