A $5,000 secured bond was set Monday for a Little Rock man accused of threatening a neighbor with a concrete cinder block during a disturbance in Pine Bluff.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 22-year-old Devarius Ash with first-degree terroristic threatening and aggravated assault.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jesse Horton, Prosecuting Attorney Jim Williams said Officer Cole responded to a disturbance at 2907 Taylor Drive on June 21. Upon arrival, the officer observed the victim engaged in a verbal altercation with Ash and attempted to de-escalate the situation. According to the affidavit, Ash was only intermittently compliant with commands and resisted some efforts to calm the encounter.

During the altercation, Ash allegedly attempted to pick up a concrete cinder block to intimidate the neighbor. As his behavior escalated, Officer Cole drew a Taser and issued verbal commands for Ash to leave the area. The affidavit states that Ash complied but allegedly threatened to kill those at the scene before he was taken into custody.

Another responding officer interviewed the victim regarding the incident.

Ash was later interviewed at the Pine Bluff Police Department and gave his account of the events.

Ash was ordered to have no contact with the victim and is scheduled to return to court.
