The White Hall School District is reporting academic improvements across multiple subject areas while also moving forward with several facility projects ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

During an interview with Greg Horne on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show, Superintendent Gary Williams discussed ongoing summer maintenance projects at the high school, including floor work, plumbing improvements and construction of a new concession stand and restroom complex at the football stadium. Williams said the new facility is designed to improve traffic flow and provide additional space for fans attending athletic events.

The district also received encouraging results from recent ATLAS assessments. Williams said White Hall students showed gains in several tested areas, including a 7 percent increase in English Language Arts, a 6 percent increase in mathematics and an 11 percent increase in science. He credited teachers, principals, students and parents for helping drive the improvements.

The White Hall School Board also approved plans to convert the district’s baseball and softball fields from natural grass to artificial turf. Williams said the project will improve field conditions, reduce maintenance requirements and allow games to be played more consistently following rain events.

Williams said the district is nearly fully staffed for the upcoming school year, with only two teaching positions remaining open following recent resignations. He added that administrators expect those positions to be filled in the coming weeks.

The superintendent also encouraged residents visiting school campuses during the summer to observe construction barriers and safety precautions while projects are underway.
