A $2,500 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of switching a price tag on merchandise at Walmart Friday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Alexander Hamer, 32, with second offense theft of property and second offense criminal trespass.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said a Pine Bluff Police Detective was working off-duty at Walmart Friday afternoon when he was notified by store security that a male later identified as Hamer had switched the price tag on a dumbbell.

Reed said Hamer had previously been convicted of theft from Walmart and had been banned from the store.

He was told to come back to court Feb. 13.
