A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a Star City man previously convicted of several felonies after a gun and suspected drugs were found in the vehicle the man was driving.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Bradley Davis, 46, with possession of a Schedule 6 controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and DWI.

Chief Deput Prosecutor Jill Reed said Davis was arrested Friday afternoon by an Arkansas State Trooper who had been sitting in a private drive on U.S. Highway 63 when he saw a Ford Explorer pass him at a high rate of speed.

Reed said the trooper asked Davis if there was anything else in the vehicle and about the odor of suspected marijuana and Davis allegedly said he had marijuana in his pocket.

Davis also admitted the cell phone found next to the gun belonged to him. He was told to come back to court Feb. 13.
