A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of fleeing from an Arkansas State Trooper Saturday.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Curtis Brown, 54, with felony fleeing.
During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said the trooper was northbound on Blake Street approaching West 6th Avenue when he saw a maroon jeep that was northbound on Blake Street cross lanes and turn east on West 6th Avenue.
Spradlin said the jeep increased its speed to 40-miles-per-hour before approaching a vacant parking lot at Sycamore Street. The vehicle passed the parking lot and continued east on West 6th Avenue before turning south on Poplar Street.
A passenger in the rear of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and was not located.
In addition to the felony allegation, Brown was cited for driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance, improper lane change, speeding and open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
He was told to come back to court Oct. 15.
