A $15,000 bond was set for a McGehee man who was arrested Saturday on drug related charges.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jovontae Black, 31, with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said the allegations are based on an affidavit from the Arkansas State Police which reported that a trooper was on Interstate 530 near the 24 mile-marker at 8:23 a.m. when he saw a black Nissan heading south.

Akel said Black was taken to the adult detention center where field sobriety tests were performed and they determined that Black was apparently impaired.

She said Black has no prior felony convictions or pending charges and he was told to come back to court Sept. 29.
