A mock mass shooting event at the campus of Jack Robey Junior High School Tuesday brought multiple agencies together and according to participants, impressed state officials from the State Health Department.
Larry Kennedy from Jefferson Regional Hospital and Josh Bishop from EASI represented two of those agencies and were guests on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.
Here’s what Kennedy had to say about that.
Bishop explained that the event started with calls to MECA (Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association).
Morning Show host Greg Horne asked Bishop to talk about healthcare for patients going to the hospital if for example they had been shot were the EMT’s treating them all the way to the hospital?
Horne said there had to be a hand-off with EASI talking to the hospital doctor like you see on TV.
Kennedy was also asked how often does the hospital practice for something like this.
