Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Italia Thompson, 31, with theft by deception.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said police are conducting an investigation into a missing person that was reported May 14. Previous news released identified that person as Joynell Brandon, 34, who was last seen in the area of University Drive.

Akel explained the allegation against Thompson reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson.

She said Thompson just recently got off probation. She was told to come back to court July 2 and said she would hire her own attorney.
